Farzified At Farzi Cafe Dubai!

Why Farzi? Because Farzi means creating an illusion. What you see is not what you always taste! That is the success mantra of Farzi cafe, a modern spice bistro by Zorawar Kalra.
Farzi cafe changed the scene of Indian cafes. New experiences and exquisite ingredients excite the diners. After gaining huge popularity in India, Farzi cafe opened its doors in Dubai.
I have tried the food at Farzi Cafe Mumbai and our experience earlier had been fabulous! Does the Dubai branch match the expectations? Read on to know.
My guest and I visited on a very busy Friday. The restaurant was packed with diners and not a single table was left empty for long. Looking at this it definitely did increase our expectations. For appetizers we were provided, tandoori wild mushrooms, walnut with truffle haze, Tandoori chilli cheese kulchas, daal aranchini & Chaat puffs. We were also served drinks such as chai soda & Pinacolada both with quirky presentation! Of all the dishes,my guest and I loved the tandoori mushrooms & paneer kulchas.
Coming to our mains, we tried Chermoula Crusted Paneer Tikka & vegetarian potato burger. Both delicious on their own way!
To end our meal we tried two stunning desserts. One named the dirt pile and other was a version of gulab jamun and rabri. The desserts impressed us massively! The deconstructed mud cake also known as THE DIRT PILE is Cleverly disguised as mud, the crumbles of cake are moist. The dish comes complete with a spade so that you can dig out some delicious elements such as fennel crumble, nuts, berries, chocolate truffles and even ice cream!
The service is quick and despite the crowd, the staff were very attentive.  Special thanks to the Manager Mr Manish for taking care of all our needs.
We were totally Farzified by the food and its presentation. The dishes are worth the wait and price wise everything on menu is reasonable. We are definitely going back to try more dishes!

Chef Thomas Keller’s Bouchon Bakery JBR

Bouchon bakery is a brainchild of famous 7 star Michelin chef Thomas Keller. Post the launch of Bouchon Bistro & The French Laundry, the chef decided to try out bakery options for everyone in form of Bouchon. The bakery quickly blossomed into a full grown establishment. When I was in Vegas, I wanted to try out Bouchon Bakery but I couldn’t due to lack of time. Who knew four years later I would be sitting in this very establishment sipping delicious coffee and snacking on some of finest pastries. Lucky me!
Bouchon bakery is open from breakfast to dinner. Located at JBR, this bakery offers beautiful views! I visited here for dinner but definitely will be back for breakfast. Here’s all we tried.
Monkey bread: Cinammon-ney goodness and fresh bread that is perfect accompaniment to coffee.
Cream Cheese Danish: I want to wake up to this everyday!!!
Almond croissant: okay, one cream cheese danish and one almond croissant everyday!!
White bean soup: not a fan of this one as I felt the piquillo pepper vinaigrette was a bit too strong.
Quiche Forestier: my guest tried this one. His experienced palate has never tried something like this before. In another words, he loved it! In fact he went back to try it again!
Grilled Cheese Sandwich: I could taste the mature cheddar and the fontina too. The bread was fresh!
Secret sandwich: that’s not on the menu but as they didn’t not have a vegetarian sandwich available. I requested if anything can be done about that and the manager instucted his staff to whip up a special one just for us! It was a version of their roasted mushroom sandwich and as per my suggestion it was served in walnut bread. That bread was super moist, I could taste how fresh it was and also how pairing it with roasted mushrooms made it even better. Both walnuts and mushrooms complimenting textures and earthy flavors.
We moved on to desserts. I was overwhelmed as the there was so much to try. However I opted for some of the best ones I have read about earlier.
Famous TKO- Thomas Keller Oreo, dark chocolate biscuit with white chocolate ganache filling. Classic and better than any oreo any day! This tribute to oreo is a hit!
Macrons: assorted macrons, each flavorful and delicious! My favorite was saffron & coconut ❤
Paris Brest: I don’t know where to to begin with this dessert. It’s more like a dream! Raspberries, pistachio, lightly rose flavored cream and raspberry jam sandwiched between choux pastry.
Chocolate eclair: do I have anything to compare this on? Really not because this is another dreamy pastry I would give up my entire meal for. It’s filled with just perfect amount of cream and chocolate. Topped with 22 carat gold leaf this delight is perfect for Dubai-ites!
OH OH! – I was wondering why it’s named as such but then I tried out the pastry. My expressions were exactly OH OH! Covered in thick chocolate shell is a delicious chocolate swiss roll.
The food is undoubtedly delicious! There is no fussy presentation. It’s simple, the flavors and freshness of ingredients are inviting enough. The manager Mr. Alex was very kind to suggest us few dishes to try. He also informed us that everything in the bakery is made from scratch with the finest ingredients and secret recipes that only few know. Freshness is emphasized here as they bake their breads and other viennoiseries as early as 4am!
At the beginning of the session, our service was a bit slower and we had to repeat orders twice to our server. As the evening progressed, the service gradually improved.
Overall, bouchon Bakery’s dishes are simply delicious! This is one place you must not miss! Perfect for breakfast dates! Their coffee is sourced from Ghana and it’s strong and the fragrance is really inviting! The viennoiseries  are flaky, buttery and simply divine!

Spreading Unicorn Fever – Unicorn Vibes Sweets

Unicorn trend is just setting in UAE. At first it was the unicorn latte from various places and now an entire cafe is themed around the same. Unicorn vibes sweets is located in business bay and offers variety of homemade ice cream flavors like cookie monster, peanut butter and many more. They also have ice cream sandwiches, cookies, unicorn water, flavoured water, lattes.
IMG_9011
Definitely the cafe is trending all over social media especially Instagram. The cafe is actually smaller in size and can accommodate around maximum 12 people. When I had visited it was crowded with families & teenagers of course all had come around to try the unicorn delights!
In terms of taste, we tried all the flavours and peanut butter was my favorite. You can choose to have in a cup or cone and every serving comes with two free toppings. Was the taste worth a drive? I am not so sure in that aspect as the flavors need major improvement. The ice cream is not creamier as one would expect and also the flavors do not stand out. The unicorn water is a strawberry flavored water which is just about fine. The cookie sandwich is something one should try!  I also happened to try milkshake which was refreshing.
Overall, ice cream flavours & the service needs to improve massively. The cafe is a hit already and if these elements are taken care of then they would definitely rock! With is h cute quotes, glitter wall, unicorn toys and an entire wall poster with wings where one can stand and take an “angelic” shot of themselves this cafe is totally Insta Worthy!

Carnival By Tresind Season 3 Review

Carnival By Tresind is only getting better every season. For starters they have introduced a new section small plates. While other fine dining restaurants have increased the costs, Carnival has bought them down by reducing the portion sizes.
The amuse bouche for season three was the truffle bun. So delicious that I would gobble more than one of these.
We tried the chef’s tasting menu and every dish he we tried was really interesting. Especially their version of P,B & J which has slabs of paneer stacked together served with berry jam.
My only dislike from the entire set courses that I tried was the Gatte Ki Sabzi which didn’t taste anything interesting.
This season Carnival has upped their cocktail game with crazy cocktails like the grenade, Toddy which was actually served with a toddy field presentation. The eye of the tiger which was presented beautifully & my favorite the Irish Bar.
From the desserts, I would highly recommend the Palang Tod ( breaking the bed would be a literal translation). Cooked milk resembling like crumbles
topped with nuts. This dish is decadent! We also tried the gems ( M & Ms of INDIA) inspired dessert that was stuffed with mango puree. This dessert was a good too but for me the former one was the winner!
Overall, Carnival By Tresind’s menu is always exciting that this time around they have left no stone unturned. Quirky concepts and interesting dinnerware used throughout our courses definitely left a huge impact! No wonder why the celebrities choose to dine here.

Fine Dine In Jumeirah- The Vintage Room

The vintage room at Jumeirah 1 is a fairly new one. Located right next to the McDonald’s drive thru, this place offers you a unique dine in experience. Cuisines on offer are Indian & Italian my two most favorites.
We set to order our appetizers, I chose the vegetarian platter while my guest opted for Crostone Caprese. Unfortunately as burrata wasn’t available we had to settle down for patate all aribiatta. My vegetarian kabab platter was choice of any four kababs from their menu. The most interesting one was nadru makhne ke kabab which is essentially lotus stem kababs. This dish was recommended to me by their manager and it is worth a try! My guest’s dish was a hearty portion of baked potatoes with rosemary which were just fine.
For our mains I thought of twisting it around and opting for Italian. I opted for vegetariana pizza, ravioli in alfredo sauce and penne in alfredo sauce. One bite was all it took for me to realise that this was the authentic stuff! The dishes tasted really good and the pasta were perfectly al dante! Not a lot of restaurants that offer Indian cuisine cook pasta correctly so this was a first for me. The ravioli too was stuffed perfectly! Upon inquiring I was been informed that they have an Italian chef who prepares all of the dishes and pasta are made fresh!
We were really stuffed but had to try out their red velvet kulfi which is highly talked of in social media. Also we tried out the tiramisu. The former was a great dish, light and creamy. Melt in mouth texture of the kulfi was a perfect end to our decadent meal. On the other hand, the tiramisu was not so exciting. What put me off was the use of sweetened cocoa powder that topped the tiramisu. It gave the dish that unnecessary sweetness.
The highlight of our meal was when their pianist played some lovely soothing music. We loved her performance and enjoyed our lunch in peace. Concerns were a bit on the service as it was slower than expected but as the food was served fresh I think it deserves time to be prepared.
Thanks to The vintage room team for the lovely invite.

Best Of Both Worlds At Scoozi Dubai

Dubai Mall is my absolute favorite place to be as I do my cardio here.. I mean my shopping . Along with plethora of brands and stores popping in there is a wide variety of dining options available too!

Spotted Scoozi in Dubai Mall that serves the two most popular cuisines, Japanese and Italian. At first I was wondering which cuisine to choose but since there was large variety my guests and I decided to order the best from both.

They have fantastic selection of coolers to begin with. My favorite of all was the strawberry cooler, so refreshing & the fruit flavor bursts out making even the most warmest days go cool. For appetizers my guests & I selected mozzarella crocante, vegetable spring rolls, Tricolore (burrata dish) and avocado maki. Surprisingly everyone voted for avocado maki & crocante to be the favorites from this set of courses. Rest of the dishes werent less delicious but these two were just perfect!

For mains we all went italian as vegetarian selections were not too many in japanese. We ordered a Margarita pizza, gnocchi quattro formaggi, ravioli & Farfelle Al Funghi.  Our favorite was definitely the gnocchi quattro formaggi as it was so creamy & so rich! All their dishes are well portioned and their pasta are all fresh! My guests were truly impressed with the main courses & so was I.

For desserts we opted for Chocolate fondant & Flourless chocolate cake. Both of them rich, chocolaty and simply superb! Lacked a bit in presentation but overall tasted really good!

My only concern was the service as it was a bit slow post the appetizers and the staff were hesitant to give their suggestions on the dishes. Also they weren’t attentive enough as many a times I had to repeat my queries.

Pro tip: If you ask for a table towards the fountains you get the perfect view without having to stand in crowds or even in heat for that matter of fact. Paired with delicious food, Scoozi makes the perfect place to dine in.

Fresh & Hot! Zpizza

am a pizza maniac, I can eat it any time of the day! So it’s obvious that I keep discovering new places and telling you folks about the same.
Glad that restaurants are taking the concept of healthy eating seriously and so following that is Zpizza. They use GMO free flour and do offer gluten free options.
IMG_8351
I tried their meal for four option which includes two salads, two medium pizzas, coke & six pieces of their garlic breads served with marinara sauce. My choice of pizzas included, spinach & mushroom which has white sauce base & California Veggie, filled with all the possible veggies. Whoever said pizzas are unhealthy are really wrong, just look at those veggies man! For salads I tried Greek salad & California salad, both were delicious & hearty portions. The garlic bread sticks were a bit tough to chew on but i am assuming that’s because i consumed it while it was cold.
Can’t wait for Zpizza business Bay branch to open up! It’s going to be near from my office which only means one thing.. more pizza lunches!
Please note: I was sent the meal as I had won their giveaway. I was not asked to review them but they do offer genuinely good food so do check them out!
