Izu Bakery – Dubai Mall

Tucked in the corner of grand Galleries Lafayette, Dubai mall is Izu Bakery.
Chef Izu Ani famous for his restaurant concepts has designed a concise menu for Izu Bakery. They offer all day breakfast, salad & burger options.
We tried the fried egg with avocado for guest, avocado toast with labneh for myself & special tomato & Goat’s cheese salad. For viennoiseries we tried cheese croissant & almond chocolate croissant. To end our meal we had French toast.

Whatever we ordered sounds so simple, however simplest dishes are the most complex to master. We loved the goats cheese & tomato salad and also the French toast which is the best one I have had till date.
If you haven’t already, do visit this delicious bakery & try out their dishes. Service was spot on & the woodworks decor adds a nice touch.

New Launches at Seattle’s Best Coffee

World famous Seattle’s best coffee is a familiar spot for many.  Their freshly brewed coffee and baked goodies have been my favorite for years.

I was invited to try out their newly launched light meals menu and I must say it’s definitely worth a try!

Giving middle eastern touch to the menu is the zaater lebneh dip & beetroot hummus. Both of them are great to go snacks and not to forget how healthy they are. They do have soups and salads which are great for light lunch. My greek salad was a really hearty portion and love the dressing with it.  SBC has also introduced wide range of reasonably priced wraps, I went for the veggie wrap and my guest opted for halloumi pesto sandwich. Clear winner from the two would be the latter one as it was moist and perfect! We would have loved it more if it were in multigrain bread.

To cool ourselves off, we tried the deliciously thick chocolate milkshake which was  perfect to wash down all the dishes we tried. The waft of freshly baked cinnabon was irresistible so we skipped desserts and went for a chocobon & pecanbon. Needless to say, both were amazing and possibly the freshest of all the branch I have had at. You can watch them make it fresh!

Great little spot for casual meetings and some hot cinnabons!

Tea & Talk at The Tea Cup

I just love driving around Jumeirah and discovering new cafes. Mostly my drives are late night and luckily there isn’t much traffic at those times which makes it easier to move around.
If you are a frequent Jumeirah person then you wouldn’t have missed out the sign that says Tea Cup cafe. Located right next to Caliburger this quaint cafe serves hot tea and variety of fusion dishes inspired by Arabian cuisine up until 4am! They have another branch as well but I like this one the most. It’s comfortable and quiet ambiance which I prefer always.

This was a review based visit and my guest and I were asked to try out many dishes they offer. We tried their famous pizza rigag, egg rigag (guest tried), Oman chips paratha roll, cheetos paratha roll, cheese honey chebab, ginger tea, chocolate shake and fruit cocktail.
The ginger tea was soothing! Back then it was crazy weather in Dubai with mix of hot and cold so this tea with generous pieces of ginger was perfect. Our chocolate milkshakes were decent enough to be enjoyed on a hot summer evening. The fruit cocktail was delicious and refreshing too!
Coming to the food, there were some hits and misses. The rigag pizza even though is innovative, I found it a tad difficult to eat as it kept falling. Their takeaway pack for Rigag looks convenient to handle though so I dont think this issue should occur. The paratha rolls were delicious, both generously slathered with Kraft cheese and topped with iconic Oman chips in one and cheetos chips in another. I did not try the chebab as it contains egg but my guest mentioned that he liked the taste of honey and cheese together with soft Arabic pancakes. All of dishes are priced reasonably and quantity wise good too.
We wanted to try desserts but none that were mentioned in menu were available for tasting. Also I found the staff bit too intervening when we placed our order because we were asked to order something else as staff mentions ” this combination will not go well”. I think it should be for the customer to decide on whether they want to try out something or not. Creating your own menu and then suggesting on not letting customers try is not exactly a great practice! I have forwarded my feedback to management the same evening of my visit so lets hope this has been taken care of. It did put me off from trying anything from the menu further.
Overall, Tea Cup is a decent option for takeaways and late night eats. As per observation their takeaway orders fly out quicker than the dine ins.

A Perfect Place To Hangout- Tim Hortons

UAE residents are enjoying the breezy and cold winter. Wishing the rains were here but no complains as its chilly and amazing weather to hang out with friends. One such chilly evening I happen to visit Tim Hortons SZR branch to meet an old friend. I had tried Tim Hortons previously but wasn’t that convinced to return back as at that time their service had issues. I am talking about when Tim Hortons was launched in Dubai..somewhere in 2011 I guess. Didn’t try the place after that until I was invited recently.

Things have changed now.. the service has improved tremendously and so has the food. With larger variety and better quality Tim Hortons has succeeded in gaining audience in UAE. On my last visit, I got addicted to their gourmet hot chocolate! Perfectly steaming yet delightful cup in chilly weather..I had to have two of them. Also their wraps are fantastic, I tried the vegetable wrap that comes with a spicy potato patty, mayonnaise, onion and shredded lettuce wrapped in thin, crispy roti like bread. For AED8 the wrap is a snack that is spot on and value for money. Also the chicken wrap was good enough but a bit bland in taste for me. The timbits were the usual thing that I order, they are soft, not too sweet and a perfect little treat for everyone. We also ordered Kettle chips which were served hot and were deliciously crispy! My concerns were with the maple glaze doughnut, it was overly sweet and was over powering the taste of everything else that I was having. However the doughnuts were fresh and minus the glaze I might have had more of it. I am hoping that Tim Hortons introduces some new and improved flavors of doughnuts and bagels. I ‘d love to give them a try too.

Overall the ambiance is relaxing and fun. The must haves from the menu are the vegetable wrap and the gourmet hot chocolate. The service is quick and the food served was hot. I enjoyed my visit to this place. I am already imagining myself sitting in the cafe reading a nice book and sipping that gourmet hot chocolate.. 😉
