The cuisine at Ayam Elezz showcases the golden era of Lebanon which was the 60s. This era bought major changes to culture of the country and the cuisine. Freshest fruits, vegetables and nuts are used in preparation of dishes which are pleasing to the eye and palate. A treat for vegetarians await at Ayam Elezz, keep reading to find out more..
Located at The Mall Jumeirah, this restaurant has the quirkiest decors I have come across. Designed as if you are entering a Lebanese house in the 60’s. The wall outside the restaurant has become a favorite for everyone to pose on, while the suitcase that serves as the doorstop makes you chuckle. There are also items like the old TV cabinet, typewriter and wallpapers which again make you feel like you are invited to a Lebanese home.
We were given an option to be seated outside which is again aircon area but for shisha smokers. We chose to sit inside as even the the view is fabulous as you can view the wild wadi and Burj Al Arab but we didn’t want to be in the shisha area.
Coming to the dishes, a wide spread was laid out in front of us and I was startled on where to begin. The complimentary lebneh and brioche bread were delicious and along with that some tabbouleh that was hand chopped and blended with sumac.
We were offered array of mezzes right from hummus to mhammara which were all delicious but the two must try dishes are the kibbeh lentil & Fattet Bateinjein. The kibbeh lentil is a vegetarian twist to the meat kibbeh. It’s a Gluten free and healthy option for those on diet. As far as the Fattet Bateinjein is concerned, it’s eggplant in yogurt and its delicious! Also you need to try the halloumi cheese that is prepared so deliciously, served with fresh pita bread and slices of tomato. Halloumi is pure heaven!
They do offer a wide range of grills as well, however since my guest and I are both vegetarians we opted for manakish to try instead. We tried the zaatar and cheese and Zaatar Jabali which were both hot and fresh!
For drinks we tried the Ayam Ellez cocktail that is a meal in itself, it is topped with fresh ashta cream and nuts. It’s basically a cocktail of the 60’s in Lebanon. We also tried the lemonade which is made by hand squeezed lemons and also the the pomegranate juice which was perfectly sweet and had no sugar added to it. I highly recommend these three drinks because they were very refreshing and all are squeezed by hand.
Our desserts were an absolute treat. We tried the kunefe and halwat al jibn. I wasn’t to happy with the kunefe served here as I like the vermicelli one more than the semolina topped one but it was cheesy goodness. The halwat al jibn was my favorite, stuffed with fresh cheese this milk pancakes are almost like the Indian Malai sandwich. Would recommend to cut down on the sugar syrup served alongside the desserts as it overpowers the dishes.
Overall, the food is fresh, made with love and I adore the decor so much! It’s really not like a typical order and go mall restaurant but there is a lot if thought put into it. Besides that the prices are reasonable and the service is prompt. They have also introduced platters for lunch and breakfast which look so tempting and I will be back to try them soon.
Thanks to the manager, Ms Rana for the hospitality and invite.

What is the first thing that comes to your mind when I say healthy food? SALADS? QUINOA? KALE?WATERMELON? BOILED BLAND FOOD? These are most common thoughts any average social media user would have. Its actually kind of true in a way because most people either stick to salads or go juicing in bid to become more healthier and leaner.
When Skinny Genie first approached me to review their offerings, I wasn’t too sure why they kept saying they offer healthy food. I mean they have pizza on their menu, there is pasta as well and a lot of other delicious dishes (I insta stalk all food related accounts). Pfft what?.. pizza isn’t healthy.everyone knows that.. Pizza completes the triangle of junk food pyramid! However I was proven so wrong because when they sent me the calorie count for it I was surprised ! I will reveal the calorie count for each of dishes in the end. Till then I would like you to guess the calories.
I was sent these vegetarian dishes for my review. A veggie pizza, Quinoas And Colors Salad, Multigrain Veggie Sandwich, Fresh Gnocchi Pesto & assorted Muffins.
Quinoas And Colors Salad: Its filled with lovely gems such as Red and white quinoa, chickpeas, cherry tomato, grilled zucchini, goji berry, dried apricot, parsley, mixed leaves, flaxseeds. The quantity is so much that it can keep you filled all day! I love how the dressing is kept really simple with just olive oil & lemon juice. The dressing enhances the delicate flavors of apricot, goji berries and tomatoes.
veggie pizza : It looked so inviting! Can you believe it that this pizza is gluten free? The base was a bit crispier than your usual thin crust that is because they have a special blend of gluten free flours such as tapioca, corn and rice. The toppings are great too with generous spread of their classic tomato base sauce , simple but flavorful mozzarella and my favorite broccoli. The portion served (30cm) is good for two and generally I have a good appetite but this pizza, I couldn’t have more than two slices.
Fresh Gnocchi Pesto: This was my most favorite dish! There is so much going on in it. The delicious pesto sauce, the pillowy gnocchi and the pine nuts for texture.. it is a classic with lower calories. Their pasta are all homemade and fresh which you can literally taste. These are a must try and again a good portion PLUS guilt free! I am actually salivating while writing this.. cuz these were so so good!
Multigrain Veggie Sandwich: A pretty pink package full of goodness.. this sandwich is another hit with me. There is Kale, sundried tomato, baby mozzarella, red cabbage, pomegranate, sesame seeds & homemade pesto all on freshly baked multigrain baguette. The ingredients are so thoughtfully paired for the sandwich. In one bite you can taste all the goodness and the fresh baby mozzarella is cherry on the top. The calories are even lower than that of a salad and I would prefer this any day!
Assorted Muffins: There are some killer combinations in their assorted muffin box. As you can see above there is Hazelnut and nutella , raspberries and dark chocolate, Apricot & chocolate chip, Apple, cinnamon & chia and banana & oat flakes. I felt the hazelnut & nutella cupcake was a bit of a let down as it was dry, however the same dryness did not run through all the muffins but only some.
I am now revealing the calories for each dish and trust me there are some huge shockers here.
Quinoas And Colors Salad – 532 calories
veggie pizza- 970 calories ( no its not the calories of a slice.. its the whole 30cm pizza!)
Fresh Gnocchi Pesto – 318 calories ( jaw drops.. what??? so low!)
Multigrain Veggie Sandwich – 265 calories (gimme that everyday!)
Assorted Muffins – 90 Calories per 100grms ❤ ❤
Overall the creators of Skinny Genie menu have carefully prepared the classic in the smartest way possible. All their dishes are Gluten free and Low in fat content, they do have vegan dishes as well. Thier dishes are super reasonable and the delivery service is accurate as per website . Only wish they had the green curry vegetarian version too.. I would love ordering that someday (i get major rice cravings sometimes)

April TGB Review
At first I wasn’t sure of what to expect, I mean this is my first dessert box and after all I didn’t have anything to compare on. At same point of time I was extremely excited to know what sweet treats I am going to receive.
The mystery was unveiled when I received my box, it was a quick delivery. So this is how it looks like..
When I got the box, I felt like it was a present from me to me. So much fun to try out five gourmet delights for a mere price of AED 89 onwards. If I were to order these individually the sweet treats would certainly cost more.
My box contained very unusual mix of some well known brands. I have heard of most of these but had not tried them. In a way this box is kind of a sampler to me. As a food & lifestyle blogger I should be aware of unique finds and TGB curators have done that job already. There was a card mentioning the theme & also explains the contents of each products and allergy information which is essential.
My box contained the following products:
Russian Tea Bread by Baker & Spice – A perfect crisp bread full of nuts and my favorite fig. Delight to dip with some tea or have it by itself.
Artisan Rock Candy by Candy Me: Colorful candies full of flavor.
Irish Rose Shortbread by Zo’s Kitchen – an absolute delight, these little wonders are perfectly flavored with rose. I am not a person who loves flowers in my food but this shortbread was just subtly perfumed & delicate in taste.
Legendary Gluten free Brownie by Oushe: I am a brownie fanatic and very particular about them. I bake them but cant perfect them. However I think I found the perfect ones. These legendary brownies have been featured in this box for two months for a reason. Soft, moist, gooey & gluten free!
Glazed Zucchini Chia Cake by Barsalata : Who said cakes aren’t healthy? Mine had Zucchini & chia which are two of my favorite ingredients and perfect for that cheat day treat!
Check out the slideshow below for all the goodies I tried.
Overall, TGB has been an amazing experience for me. Two big finds from the box were the Barsalata Glazed Zucchini & Chia cake & the Legendary Oushe brownies. Both of these I had heard of but never got a chance to try until now. A bit disappointment was the Artisan candies which were nice but not exciting enough. Different though. Also the box contains product supplier information & discount vouchers which is great for orders post first trial.
If you are someone like me, cracking head on what to gift your loved ones, TGB is a great option. Your loved ones can enjoy the goodies, feel special & if you are lucky they might share some with you too! Fun idea isn’t it? Be it a guy or a girl everyone (well almost) loves sweet treats and TGB’s special curated boxes can just be a perfect surprise.
