Good Hair Days With Palmers Raw Shea Range

Who doesn’t love beautiful bouncy hair? gorgeous hair is an asset everyone wants. I am particularly possessive about my locks, I refrain from using products that are harmful or full of chemicals. I would want the same for you all as well. There are a lot of factors that affect the hair, internally such as lack of vitamins & mineral and externally like use of chemicals. While we can take care of our diets by including good source of protein and vitamin B12, Vitamin D and more. Externally we can protect hair by minimizing the use of heat and chemicals all together. Chemicals are present in shampoos, hair masques, colors and more. While the heat comes from straighteners, blow dryers and such.

if you think you are just a shampoo and go kind of person so you are safe then you are totally wrong! Hair shampoos do contain a lot of chemicals, some even cause scalp to get itchy or even promote hairfall.

Now I know you must be a bit scared but worry not because I am here to help you or rather palmers new Raw Shea range is..

Lets first learn about the products

  • Their raw, natural shea butter is ethically sourced in Burkina Faso Africa.
  • Raw Shea shampoo and conditioner are infused with essential moisturizers and nutrients to detangle, de-frizz, smooth and soften hair.
  • parabens, NO sulfates, NO mineral oil, NO phthalates and No dyes.
  • Core contents are African Shea Butter, Keratin Protein, Argan Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin E

Verdict:

Firstly, both the shampoo and conditioner are having a beautiful yet naturally sweet fragrance that attracts you towards the product. I am dividing my review so thats its easier for you to decide on whats suitable.

Shampoo:

Beautiful fragranced and free of dyes and nasties, this product works really well on my colored hair. My haircolor was just shining after the wash. Not only that, my hair flt softer, smoother and easier to manage! Also the fragrance of the shampoo lasted more than two days which has never happened with me before. Also I have been noticing reduction in hairfall post usage of this shampoo.

Conditioner:

Fragrance is same or sightly stronger in the conditioner. Product is easier to work with as you just have to apply after wash and leave it in there for a good 5 minutes. Rinse and you are ready to roll! My hair went from limp to bouncy in just two tries of this conditioner. Also i felt they were tamed enough to be styled without a styling cream!

Dont believe it? See it yourself 🙂

Overall, I am in love with Palmer’s Raw Shea Shampoo and conditioner range! My hair have never felt so good and smooth after washes. I have in past used luxury products that are of similar idea (no dyes, no nasties) however, never have I come across a product that it appeals me in one go. I am excited for you all to try this gorgeous product as well.

PS: products provided by Palmer’s before it hits the shelves. Needs at least two to three tries to get the best results. Suitable for all hair types. I did not have any dandruff issues prior to use, however the product also claims to eliminate this common problem.

McDonald’s Hand Gesture Campaign

Ramadan is the most significant event for Muslims around the world. Abstaining from food and water from dawn to dusk is the pattern followed by observers.

Brands invest in heavy advertising during this period & take this opportunity to promote food products through various mediums. It’s not an incorrect practice to promote food products & related services during fasting hours. However, innovative campaigns always work well as they stand out from the crowd.

One such noticeable campaign launched last year was by McDonald’s UAE. Their “No distractions” billboard was appreciated by many. This campaign garnered positive responses and resulted in launch of a similar campaign this Ramadan known as ‘The Hand Gesture Campaign’

McDonald’s has set a perfect example for how marketing is done in this era. There has been a shift of focus from just product advertising to consumer oriented marketing. ‘The Hand Gesture Campaign’ focuses on respecting Muslims observing Ramadan by keeping the food displayed on outdoor mediums to a minimum. What’s interesting to observe is that this campaign too like the former one continues to focus on theme of being respectful in holy month of Ramadan.

‘The Hand Gesture Campaign’ includes digital billboards which show empty hands “recreating” a burger before iftar & then gets replaced by the same hands holding a burger close to Iftar time. These hands can also be seen on some static billboards and scattered across panels around the country.

Another aspect focused in this year’s campaign is diversity. From details such as hands used in ads across to sharing Ramadan stories from people of different ethnicities, all have been covered. The Ramadan stories shared on their Instagram McDonald’s UAE  are personal experiences by actual people. These experiences & memories are not only heartwarming but also gives an insight from various perspectives. This clever campaign creates instant connectivity between the brand & the audience with little focus on the product itself.

McDonald’s hand gesture campaign revolves around their latest offering which is the Ramadan meal. Exclusively designed for UAE, this meal includes a choice of burger, refreshing McFizz with Vimto Flavor, delicious Date custard Pie  & Nuggets all for the price of AED25. Being a vegetarian I never actually get to try out Ramadan meals but this time McDonald’s has covered the same too. Their choices do include vegetarian burgers as well! Love how detailed their strategy is. This makes a difference and allows products to penetrate amongst various segments of the market.

Have you spotted this campaign recently? What are your thoughts on the same? Do write to me in comments below.

Revlon Eyes, Cheeks + Lips Palette Review

I am all in for beauty products that offer convenience. Generally I don’t carry a lot of makeup but when it’s meetings/office events I require to do a quick makeover to my face. In such scenarios a palette that offers all in one option works really well which is why when Revlon released their Eyes, lips and cheek palette I was very much interested in trying it out.
img_6170
Coming to the palette, it’s compact and easy to carry around. I received this kit from Revlon team for reviewing and this is the Romantic Nudes 100 set. The palette mentions that the shades are universally flattering.
Features:
• Includes mirror and mini applicators

My review

Eyes – The top two shades are shimmering shades, very light and not very pigmented. On the other hand the remaining shades are a bit promising because once you start applying the color is visible. The darker shades are decently pigmented, very build-able and blend-able. I would highly recommend to use a good primer as the base to build your look and to make these eye shade last longer ( I used Nyx primer) The mini sponge applicator given along with the product is okay to use. You can expect these shades to last at least 4-5 hours without fading out.
Lips: The two shades given at the left are lipsticks. One is slightly towards coral, it’s buttery and I loved this shade even without adding the lipgloss. The other shade is a light plum-ish color. Both are great shades, one for day and night look. There is a lipstick applicator with the palette but I used my finger which was easier as the lipsticks have a very smooth texture. The lip glosses are great too! Gives lips a healthy sheen and not too sticky.
Cheeks: The blush powder comes with a tiny and cute blush brush. Honestly, I didn’t find this blush helpful at all. I applied it several times but couldn’t see the color on my cheeks. It’s a very light shade and I have a pale/wheat-ish skin on which there was no effect.
Pros:
  • All in one compact palette
  • Mirror included
  • Easy to carry
  • Can create multiple looks, day and night
  • Darker  eye shadow shades are more towards matte
  • Shades to suit any skin tone
Cons:
  • The palette doesn’t have any cover for the lipsticks which are liquid. The powders tend to fall on the lipsticks
  •  Inconsistencies in pigmentation of shades
  • Eye shadows requires a lot of blending
  • Cost
Revlon Eye,lips and cheeks palette is available through Desert cart at AED 55, I haven’t seen these at drugstores yet.

Restaurant Review: Bringing Back the 60’s with Ayam Elezz

The cuisine at Ayam Elezz showcases the golden era of Lebanon which was the 60s. This era bought major changes to culture of the country and the cuisine. Freshest fruits, vegetables and nuts are used in preparation of dishes which are pleasing to the eye and palate. A treat for vegetarians await at Ayam Elezz, keep reading to find out more..

img_4885

Located at The Mall Jumeirah, this restaurant has the quirkiest decors I have come across. Designed as if you are entering a Lebanese house in the 60’s. The wall outside the restaurant has become a favorite for everyone to pose on, while the suitcase that serves as the doorstop makes you chuckle. There are also items like the old TV cabinet, typewriter and wallpapers which again make you feel like you are invited to a Lebanese home.

We were given an option to be seated outside which is again aircon area but for shisha smokers. We chose to sit inside as even the the view is fabulous as you can view the wild wadi and Burj Al Arab but we didn’t want to be in the shisha area.

Coming to the dishes, a wide spread was laid out in front of us and I was startled on where to begin. The complimentary lebneh and brioche bread were delicious and along with that some tabbouleh that was hand chopped and blended with sumac.

We were offered array of mezzes right from hummus to mhammara which were all delicious but the two must try dishes are the kibbeh lentil & Fattet Bateinjein. The kibbeh lentil is a vegetarian twist to the meat kibbeh. It’s a Gluten free and healthy option for those on diet. As far as the Fattet Bateinjein is concerned, it’s eggplant in yogurt and its delicious! Also you need to try the halloumi cheese that is prepared so deliciously, served with fresh pita bread and slices of tomato. Halloumi is pure heaven!

They do offer a wide range of grills as well, however since my guest and I are both vegetarians we opted for manakish to try instead. We tried the zaatar and cheese and Zaatar Jabali which were both hot and fresh!

For drinks we tried the Ayam Ellez cocktail that is a meal in itself, it is topped with fresh ashta cream and nuts. It’s basically a cocktail of the 60’s in Lebanon. We also tried the lemonade which is made by hand squeezed lemons and also the the pomegranate juice which was perfectly sweet and had no sugar added to it. I highly recommend these three drinks because they were very refreshing and all are squeezed by hand.

Our desserts were an absolute treat. We tried the kunefe and halwat al jibn. I wasn’t to happy with the kunefe served here as I like the vermicelli one more than the semolina topped one but it was cheesy goodness. The halwat al jibn was my favorite, stuffed with fresh cheese this milk pancakes are almost like the Indian Malai sandwich. Would recommend to cut down on the sugar syrup served alongside the desserts as it overpowers the dishes.

Overall,  the food is fresh, made with love and I adore the decor so much! It’s really not like a typical order and go mall restaurant but there is a lot if thought put into it. Besides that the prices are reasonable and the service is prompt. They have also introduced platters for lunch and breakfast which look so tempting and I will be back to try them soon.

Thanks to the manager, Ms Rana for the hospitality and invite.

Friday Fragrance Review – Clinique Aromatics in White

Aromatics in White was launched in UAE in September 2015. This product is recent successor of the oldest fragrance range from Clinique which is Aromatics Elixir. I have tried Aromatics Elixir and that fragrance is class apart! So does Aromatics in White match the greatness of Aromatics Elixir? Read to know more..

Clinique Aromatics in White arrives in an all white box with gold details. Continuing with the color scheme the flacon is white with the name of the perfume inscribed in gold & the nozzle too. I am not a fan of fancy flacons because once the fragrance is over, the flacon is of no use. This one is perfect for me.

IMG_3583

My first try was at the Paris Gallery store, the fragrance at the beginning is tart but has a beautiful depth. Its delicate, sophisticated and a great fragrance that lingers on from day to night. The fresh long lasting fragrance from orange blossom, Patchouli & my favorite rose excites the senses. Also the floral scents are strong on this one but at the end the amber keeps the fragrance last longer and gives that middle eastern touch to the fragrance. For those of you who aren’t fans of the strong amber this one is a perfect fragrance because it is used in a very subtle manner. I fell in love with Aromatics in White at the very first try and kept the tester strip with me as a reminder that I have to get this for myself. Luckily, Clinique Arabia gifted me one the very next week! Couldn’t get luckier than that..

Overall, Aromatics in White has all the qualities to be the next classic from Clinique. Its already gaining a huge popularity and a perfect fragrance for the women of today. Whether you wear it to work or parties, this scent is sure to be a hit everywhere! The petite flacon design makes it perfect to carry around, especially when travelling.

Recipe: Eggless Peanut Butter Brownies

Weekend baking time! My niece like me has a sweet tooth but unfortunately she can’t have many of the desserts as they contain egg. She is allergic to egg and most of the recipes that I know need egg for binding. After many experiments and pairings, I came up with this easy recipe that I am sharing with you all today. Do give it a try and let me know if your attempt was successful.

Eggless Peanut Butter Brownies

(makes 8 pieces)

You need:

1 cup all purpose flour

1 packet chopped reese’s peanut butter cup chocolate

3/4 tin condensed milk

3 tsp milk

1tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp baking soda

3 tbsp Chunky peanut butter

2 tsp butter

1/2 cup unsweetened dark chocolate chips

Parchment paper for lining

Method:

Preheat oven at 325 degrees

In a pan, heat condensed milk on low heat, add peanut butter and milk. Mix well and set aside.

In a bowl sieve all the dry ingredients together and mix well. Create a well in between and slowly incorporate the wet mix that we made earlier. Keep mixing till a smooth batter is formed. Add chopped reese’s cup chocolate to the batter and give it a final mix.

Line the baking pan with butter and parchment paper. Allow the paper to be two inches above the tin so that its easier to removed the baked brownie.

Add the batter to the lined pan and bake for 35 minutes. Keep poking toothpick to check if the brownie is cooked thoroughly.

Once baked, remove from oven and leave it to cool for 15 minutes. Cut into desired shapes.

For chocolate drizzle, take a microwave bowl, add unsweetened chocolate chips and 1 tsp butter. Microwave it for exactly 30secs on med. high heat. Mix the melted chocolate well. Quickly take the cooled brownie pieces and drizzle with melted chocolate and sprinkle some brown sugar for a bit of added sweetness.

Have it hot with ice cream, have it cold with coffee. ❤

These will last upto 5 days in a airtight container.

Exploring The Lanes Of Old Dubai

Dubai is not all about fancy cars, huge towers and gold. There is a lot more to explore than the malls here.. One such place to visit is Old Souk. If you are a tourist, this place should be the first one your must visit places list. The beauty of the Souk is that nothing has been changed in years. All small scale traders sell traditional clothing, local handicrafts, spices, and souvenirs. My friends who are visiting here from UK loved the place. A trader taught one of them to tie a Gutra (Traditional Arab headgear). Of course he had to purchase it because the trader was so enthusiastically and passionately explaining the culture of UAE and the traditional clothing here. The fragrance of the Arabic Oud and the spices is a bit overwhelming but wonderfully warm.

The place faces creek side and the windy weather just makes the atmosphere more beautiful. At the end of the market you will find entrance to the Abra. Abras are wooden motor boats which can accommodate upto 25 people. The Abra costs at just AED1 (27 cents) and a great way to travel from Bur Dubai to Deira.
