Freez is one of the most talked about cafes in Dubai. Why so you ask? Well they have sweet treats for the fussiest of eaters and their innovative crepes and cakes are popular amongst the younger crowd.
To find out what’s the hype all about I visited their outlet located at Al Qouz. It’s a small outlet but since most of their orders are takeaway/delivery this area seems sufficient for them. Colorful interiors that have graffiti of products from the 90’s such as Areej juices, oman chips and more.
Coming to the menu, we tried the Happiness cake, which is essentially a super moist red velvet cake topped with white and milk chocolate. This dish is not for those who are not sweet fanatics. It’s indeed delicious but a large portion for one. Apart from this I also tried the refreshing pistachio shake. Served in a jar of nutella, this shake is all you need to be summer ready! We loved it a lot. The other dish that I tried was the chocolate mousse cake, oozing liquid chocolate topped with more chocolate! I was in chocolate heaven! We also tried the lotus pancakes, kraft pancakes and more.
Overall, if you are in Al Qouz or if you spot their pop up stores, do give their dishes a try. They are sweet but delicious treats all priced reasonably.

What is a party without some chips n dips? Whether it’s a house party or you having chips n dips at burjuman, guaranteed it’s a party in your mouth!
I was sent an amazing range of dips and loads of chips to try. These are just delicious dips, especially the sweet and sour chili cheese which also happens to be their top seller is simply divine! Also the Seven layered Mexican dip is spectacular! Cheese, guacamole, salsa, herbs.. This dip was over in just few minutes!
They do offer delicious range of sweet dips too. My favorite be in the red velvet dip which goes so well with graham crackers
All their dips are vegetarian and freshly prepared by them. I love their concept and the best part is that it’s really close to Vox cinemas in Burjuman so instead of ordering your regular nachos and cheese I would highly suggest you to try out the Chips N dips.
- Free Wifi on purchase of a chips n Dips order
- They do party catering as well. Contact them on 04 2244842

Are you obsessed with middle eastern cuisine? I think I am a bit because I cannot live without hummus and my favorite halloumi. Giving a twist to these simple ingredients a modern concept of Saj Bistro was created.
Located conveniently at Aspin Towers, Saj Bistro offers a wide selection of burgers, wraps, face ups (manakeesh).
For appetizers, I ordered the quinoa salad and my guest opted for eggs sunny side up, fresh juices and halloumi wrap. The pesto halloumi wrap was delicious and interesting.
Must tries from the menu are definitely the akawwi cheese faceup that doesn’t only look delicious but the stringy cheese is a sight for cheese lovers.
For desserts, we opted for lotus waffle with ice cream and baklawa with ice cream. The former was light and not overtly sweet except the sauces while the latter was too sweet for my liking.
Overall, Saj bistro serves delicious fusion of leventine cuisine. Their quick service and delivery system sets them apart from the restaurants catering similar cuisine.
I love the diversity in Wafi restaurants. They have Seville’s for Spanish to Asha’s for Indian. Adding to the list is the newest member, Marco’s Italian Kitchen.
Marco’s is named after the chef Marco Ghezzi who hails from Italy. With no fuss and frills the menu is kept simple and authentic. Ingredients are imported from Italy including vegetables.
For antipasti, we ordered burrata and zucchini chips. The burrata was fresh and the sourness of cherry tomatoes help in cutting through the rich and creamy taste of the cheese. The zucchini chips were simple and flavorful.
For Our mains, I opted for cannelloni stuffed with spinach and ricotta served in alfredo sauce. My guest opted for gnocchi. Both dishes are highly recommended for vegetarians. We also tried the pizza Napoli (vegetarian version) it was the best and most delicious pizza I have had!
Marco’s offers excellent wine selection both white and red. These are perfect to go with italian food. However I chose to try their signature cocktail, Amore Mio. This rum based drink was delicious and pink! My guest opted for the beer as he is not a wine person.
For desserts we tried the tiramisu which surprisingly was a larger portion but so light! Served with mixed berries on side. The other dessert was a chocolate torta ( Torta Barrozzi), basically a dense cake, brownie kinds that was served with berry compote and berries.
The food definitely does brighten up the day but more than that it’s the beautiful decor. Wooden tables, fresh basil and thymes pots on each table, soft lighting and the lovely view of the terrace. You can opt to dine at the terrace but since it was a windy day back then we were seated inside. The semi open kitchen looks beautiful. Suggesting this place for lunch dates as the ambiance is very relaxing and gorgeous.
I really do miss the authentic Chinese food that I use to get back in States. Especially from a tiny restaurant in Michigan, Dragon’s Treasure. When I moved back to Dubai, I realized I Chinese takeaways weren’t in the food scene. Not anymore though, thanks to Dubaites being more adventurous with their food choices, we have almost all cuisines here.
One of most buzzing Chinese restaurant’s is Chop Suey in Jumeirah 2.
I was been invited to review the place and as usual on a weekend I paid a visit. Tried out a some fabulous dishes right from the vegetable dumplings to the delicious toffee banana. The food is really flavorful and the portion sizes are share-able. Presentation wise the dishes were a bit weak but hey with food so good you’ve got to let go of fancy part. This is the kind of food that can make your day.
Must tries would be the vegetable spring rolls that are made from scratch, vegetable chopsuey, silken tofu with broccoli and shitake (Contains egg) and sesame toffee banana with ice cream.
Decor wise the restaurant has a sense of balance with colored wall at one end to wooden tables. Ambiance is very relaxing and dine in here can be fun. The restaurant manager has informed that most of their orders are takeaways but I would strongly suggest to visit the restaurant personally as its really cozy and calm.
The only problem with the restaurant is that it is located in jumeirah plaza that allows diners free parking for two hours only. So even if you are dining in one of restaurants at the plaza you will be required to pay post two hours . However there is a solution to that as you could park behind the plaza and pay hourly at the public parking area post two free hours.

A concept which allows you to DIY bbq and enjoy other treats is not new to Dubai but certainly is for Barsha residents.
BBQ nation is a well known franchise from India with outlets in almost every city. Their specialty is grill as per your liking on the table, besides that they also have wide variety of counters where you are served soups, mains, rice, accompaniments, wraps and even your own mix of noodles.
I personally found the DIY grill part to be a bit slow because it takes a lot of time to get the perfect char on my paneer and vegetable skewers. The taste was spot on though. These skewers are partially cooked and served on table unlimited number of times. Once you want to stop the server from adding grills, all you need to do is put down the sign that says ” I give up”. Wait.. that doesn’t really mean you give up. You actually are just ready to proceed to main courses. I did enjoy those as there is a good variety for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. My eyes were fixated on the wrap and rolls counter, basically a paratha and you can add mix of vegetables, paneer and sauces. It was delicious and fun to watch.
The staff were super friendly throughout the service, encouraging my guest and I to try out everything. It was a wide buffet so trying out each and every item is a task but we managed it.
Towards the end of our meal I was too stuffed to try the desserts. However when I was been informed of kulfi counter I was thrilled to try! They have a great variety of all in-house made kulfis with flavors like chocolate to saffron. Eat the kulfi plain or get it topped with variety of toppings like nuts, cookies, wafer biscuits, smarties and many more. The desserts apart from kulfi ice creams were passable because they weren’t that great. I felt there is a bit more work required at that end since especially the cakes which I found a bit too dry.
Overall, BBQ nation is a great option and a good place to visit with your foodie friends. A word of caution though, make sure you are really hungry else you wouldn’t be able to enjoy the variety. The thing with buffets is that everyone finds their own liking some may love the grills while some may enjoy something else so it’s always a win win situation.
Decor-wise, the restaurant has wide wooden tables and faux bar area at the end(because they don’t serve alcohol). There is a lot of seating area and great for parties. They do have live music in evenings and offer catering to events as well.
I also had brief chat with Mr Dipak, the manager of the branch. I am informed that soon there will be a chaat corner added to the already wide buffet. Due to popular demand a branch in Karama will be launched too.
