Desi Pizza From OvenStory

I was at office when I discovered that ovenstory is now in Dubai! I had tried them on my last vacation to India so I knew what to expect from their pizzas! The sauces are packed with flavor and the pizzas are generously topped with cheese 🙂

Ordered a large one because I knew that the moment the pizza waft is in pantry, a few of my lovely colleagues will definitely want some. I tried of the cottage tikka pizza (paneer pizza) very desi and delicious! I am a regular now because their pizzas are just so good! To those who arent use to spicy or power packed flavors the pizzas from here will be intense for those but they are definitely different and worth a try!

Review: Healthy Little Secrets Cafe

Healthy little secrets is a quaint cafe with some very delicious goodies!
Most of their menu is based on salads or sandwiches. We opted for organic sprouted quinoa salad, pulled chicken sandwich, classic avocado toast. We absolutely loved and devoured the huge salad portion that came with lime and coriander dressing. My guest loved his pulled chicken sandwich as well. Our desserts were khasha cream & carrot cake. While we did not enjoy the khasha as none of us are buckwheat fans, we loved the healthy version of carrot cake and would mind going back for the same.
For a drinks, my guest opted for whey protein shake in almond milk & I opted for pink Pitaya smoothie in regular milk. Both were decent enough in taste. We loved the chocolate chai bubble tea that we had with our desserts.
Overall, HSL is a great cafe option for deliveries & takeaways. The prices are tad higher than usual but considering the fact that they have completely organic ingredients one wouldn’t mind paying additional.

Thela Brunch At Bar Baar

I am generally not a fan of Indian brunches. To be honest I can only count a few handful of restaurants that do justice to the food. Bar baar was an exception to the same. With more than 65 dishes on offer, some are served on the Thelas ( carts) while some served on order.
The cuisine on offer is Bar Baar’s own take on Indian street food. We loved the different chaats served, the pav bhaji & the practically everything served from the thelas. While the starters offered apart from street food can totally be skipped as they weren’t that flavorful.
Moving to the main courses, there is ample choice for vegetarians and non vegetarians. I opted for desi chowmein whilst my guest opted for butter chicken with cheese naans. My vegetarian chowmein was bang on the buck and reminded me of Mumbai street eateries where desi chinese is a popular choice. My guest loved their butter chicken too!
For desserts they had many options. However we opted only for a selected few namely karak ice cream, baileys lollipop, kulfi falooda and gajar ka halwa cheesecake. We loved the cheesecake and the lollipop. The kulfi falooda was super creamy & delicious! This one is a must try!
Overall, recommending Thela brunch for two major reasons, the delicious food & super reasonable pricing! Service was a bit slow especially during the desserts but it was totally fine as we got more time to enjoy live music & some superb cocktails.

Cost:

AED 99 (Non Alcoholic Beverages)
AED 199 (Regular House Beverages)

Chilling At Kava & Chai Al Seef Dubai

Kava & Chai is hugely popular in emirate of Sharjah. I have been to their university city branch and it’s a perfect grab and go outlet.
They recently have opened up at Al Seef Dubai. A larger branch, gorgeous views of creek. I can totally vision myself visiting here more in winters. Enjoying a great cuppa along with some snacks. On my recent visit to this branch I was forced to sit inside because it was so humid in the afternoon. However once inside I was enjoying my delicious detox drink called green veggie blend. Kale, green apples and baby spinach have never tasted so good!
My guest loved his signature chai latte, it was strong and perfect accompaniment to his chicken ceasar salad. I tried out the cauliflower & quinoa salad which was a great portion for the price and tasted so good. We also tried out the halloumi sandwich, pistachios and halloumi a match made in heaven!
Coming to desserts, we tried the oreo red velvet cake. The looks of this one are clearly deceiving. It was moist, the gooey chocolate center and perfectly sweet! this dish was a treat. Our second dessert, the carrot cake was again delicious and lovely!
Kava & chai has range of teas to try from. Their staff members are well aware about the infusions offered and they are more than willing to educate guests of the blends on offer. I would have loved to try these but since I am off caffeine, I couldn’t really taste their lovely selection.
Visit for great views, especially during sunsets and fabulous selection of hot beverages.

Bollywood Dreams At Bol Gappa Restaurant

After a fun filled day at Bollywood parks & Motiongate, my family and I headed to Bol Gappa.  We were famished and ready to devour anything that was bought to us! Coming back the the restaurant, I really loved the décor done, movie posters, dialogues on the wall and such. Does the food do justice? Read further to know.

We started off with Mango lassi, Berry Mojito and Lemon Mint and for starters we were suggested Mexican bhel, paneer diljale and pot pataka. Of the three we unanimously selected pot pataka because it wasn’t spicy and perfect little dumplings were delicious to enjoy!

Our mains consisted of penne pasta in creamy mushroom sauce, vegetable biryani and paneer tikka wrap. All the three were too good in terms of taste and pricing. The mains are portioned heartily! I have never seen a huge bowl of pasta been served for a price as little as AED39. Our jolly server Mr. Raj was a fun person to interact with. His suggestions were spot on and were almost winners (except Mexican bhel which is a spicy affair!)

For desserts we opted for gajar ka halwa spring rolls & banoffee pie.  The banoffee pie presentation would put cafes to shame. Spun sugar works and berries! With only a glitch that this pie lacked the rich cream topping one would generally expect in a regular banoffee pie. Nevertheless it was delicious! Another beauty was the gajar ka halwa spring rolls which were mindblowing. That is the exact word that comes to my mind when I think of this dessert. Taste was almost as good as churros and serving it with vanilla ice cream.. Hallelujah!

Shakes By The Beach – Keventers

Iconic Keventers are now at La Mer! Keventers is a well established milkshake brand from India.

We tried the Snickers Superior & Dulche De Leche milkshakes. Tastewise they are just fine. I do feel that Keventers as a brand is more popular as opposed to the taste of the milkshakes itself. However if you are someone who has grown up having these shakes, be prepared to get hit by nostalgia train. My guest was completely blown by the fact that the quality has been consistent throughout. He is someone who has been having these milkshakes from childhood. If you miss the taste of these iconic shakes, Keventers is here for you!

What I am going back for? to try Camel Milk Shakes!

Larte D3 – Where Food meets Fashion

Larte is the latest addition to dining options in D3. I personally love D3 but the road to that place is a mess even on Google maps. Anyhow my guest and I reached the place to try out some italian delights and did the food meet our expectations? Read to know…
IMG_0980
Our appetizers consisted of burrata, truffle arancini & zucchini fritters . All three were superb! Our favorite was the fritters which were perfectly cooked.
For our mains we selected Truffle mushroom risotto which is their signature dish & my guest opted for Lobster linguine. The presentation was spot on.Generally I am not a risotto fan but this one I would certainly order again!
Our desserts were Larte special Bueno, Cannoli & deconstructed tiramisu. While the tiramisu sadly didn’t impress me, I was completely drawn towards the bueno which had elements of chocolate such as milk, mousse & even tempered. The cannoli dish was tad sweeter due to candied orange peels but we loved the citrusy twist to the dish.
La Arte is licensed restaurant & they have some killer cocktails which would be best with sundowner meals. They do have a good selection of mocktails as well.

Spanish Food Affair With Espana Dubai

Espana has been voted as the chefs choice of restaurant recently. So when I got the invite, I was certainly excited to try out the same. I must admit though, I generally prefer tapas because not at every place you get vegetarian options especially the paella. So I brought along a friend who is a Spanish food expert.
IMG_0710
We started off our evening with some delicious sangria, an entire pitcher fell short to us! It was delicate and I would definitely prefer to cool off with it in summers. We Also enjoyed some scrumptious tapas, namely stuffed potatoes with mushrooms & goat’s cheese crouquetas. My guest enjoyed her chicken skewers dish.
The tapas are priced well for the portions served. It’s not to tiny and perfect for a light bite. Following our tapas experience we had vegetarian paella & my guest had seafood one. I have had a chance try vegetarian paella only twice. Once in Casa De Tapas & once here. I was surely surprised by the variety offered for vegetarians which definitely makes a decent meal. My guest’s seafood paella was filled with mussels, octopus & prawns all cooked to perfection(guest opinion)!
We ended our meal with delicious churros that were served with chocolate chilli sauce & carrot cheesecake. The former was a standout while the latter dessert was not really impressive. We paired our churros with Macchiato Martini which was a strong choice of drink but went really well with the desserts.
Overall, it was fun night at Espana and I will certainly be visiting the place again for ladies night. We loved the live music feature. Unsure of what is the exact decor inspiration however its quirky and attractive!

Versailles Brunch At Brasserie Quartier – The St. Regis Dubai

Brasserie Quartier located at St Regis Dubai is one of popular eateries in Dubai. The quality of food is the finest and french delicacies like never seen before! We happened to try out the famous Versailles brunch which is an unforgettable celebration of style and culinary art at BQ’s.
Decor wise the restaurant is very royal! With mannequins displaying logos from famous designers such as Chanel look elegant and different. They do have a live band as well.
Coming to the most important part, the food. Simple flavours yet all shining. There is a wide variety of salads, appetizers and patisserie served throughout the courses. While the salads, appetizers and few other dishes such as pasta & burgers can be enjoyed live from the counters, the main course is served on the table.
We got a red band & green one. Green for non alcoholic bevys & red for the alcoholic ones. The variety of drinks is spot on! You can enjoy unlimited drinks along with some scrumptious food! The wine options are huge and the cocktails are great too!
The best part of the whole deal is the desserts! Oh so decadent and delicious! Each one better than the other. Mind you it’s not your single table filled with goodies but an entire section dedicated to sinful sweets. The chocolate fountain, mousses, macrons, truffles & cakes. All made in house and served as many times as you please.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, except the main course option which I felt was weak for vegetarians. The same was compensated with the delicious pasta dishes, salads and desserts. The live band is enthusiastic and fun to watch!
Cost:
AED 350 Haute package
AED 550 Couture package
AED 650 Versailles package
