Versailles Brunch At Brasserie Quartier – The St. Regis Dubai

Brasserie Quartier located at St Regis Dubai is one of popular eateries in Dubai. The quality of food is the finest and french delicacies like never seen before! We happened to try out the famous Versailles brunch which is an unforgettable celebration of style and culinary art at BQ’s.
Decor wise the restaurant is very royal! With mannequins displaying logos from famous designers such as Chanel look elegant and different. They do have a live band as well.
Coming to the most important part, the food. Simple flavours yet all shining. There is a wide variety of salads, appetizers and patisserie served throughout the courses. While the salads, appetizers and few other dishes such as pasta & burgers can be enjoyed live from the counters, the main course is served on the table.
We got a red band & green one. Green for non alcoholic bevys & red for the alcoholic ones. The variety of drinks is spot on! You can enjoy unlimited drinks along with some scrumptious food! The wine options are huge and the cocktails are great too!
The best part of the whole deal is the desserts! Oh so decadent and delicious! Each one better than the other. Mind you it’s not your single table filled with goodies but an entire section dedicated to sinful sweets. The chocolate fountain, mousses, macrons, truffles & cakes. All made in house and served as many times as you please.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience, except the main course option which I felt was weak for vegetarians. The same was compensated with the delicious pasta dishes, salads and desserts. The live band is enthusiastic and fun to watch!

Restaurant Review: Moombai & Co.

Moombai & co. Is the latest addition to H Hotel’s array of dining options. Inspired by Bollywood songs & movies, the bar-resto offers indian cuisine with their own twist.
Some dishes in the menu are of Irani-Parsi origin. The decor of this bar restaurant is very kitchsy with movie posters and famous dialogues framed. The lights are dim so photography was an issue here.
We set to order from the menu provided, I opted for paneer achari tikka and Bombay grill sandwich. The paneer dish was good but the grill sandwich was a tad undercooked. It surely wasn’t grilled perfectly but tasted fine. My guest’s Akuri egg cheese toast too came with slight burn on top which indicated that it was overcooked.
Our mains arrived, the paneer kurchan & daal both were delicious! These are simple dishes and familiar tastes. The apricot biryani was good too! We paired our daal dish with cheese & garlic naan that was flaky and oozing with butter( weight watchers, strictly avoid!)
My guests has savory lassi and I had two very interesting cocktails. One was saffron based and the other was Baba Bhudan Martini both were strong and bang on the buck!
Our desserts were a huge disappointment with falooda being too damn icy to the chocolate pudding being undercooked which left a really bad aftertaste. Not only that, the dish took a long while to arrive, even longer than the mains! The same had been highlighted to management post my visit.
The service was a concern for me. Since it was a busy Friday, the restaurant was full and there were only 1-2 servers in the area we were seated in. I am unsure If our server was nervous or wasn’t able to comprehend with the feedback given to him. The manager too was constantly trying to justify the delay and the taste of the dessert stating that that’s exactly how the dish is served.
Overall, Moombai & Co. Is great for casual drinks hangout and I will be definitely back for those. Especially the boozy golas! I really liked the interiors and the way its been designed. The restaurant looks smaller but is quite spacious. They need to work on menu execution though as I feel the dishes can taste much better if the ingredients are treated correctly.

The Courtyard – Manzil Downtown

Sheesha places have become popular amongst all in Dubai. Sheesha places that serve lovely dinner are much more appreciated. The Courtyard offers a vast menu, however not many for vegetarians. Our order consisted of burrata salad, halloumi salad, felafel, cheese saj & vegetarian pasta. The service is quick and they do offer suggestions. A word of caution though for those with children/ allergic to smoke as this place is not smoke-free. This licensed venue offer also a list of interesting cocktails and drinks. I opted for Zojito, Zaatar mojito which was refreshing and delicious! While my guest opted for berry concoction sans any alcohol and it was refreshing too.
To end our meal we had two delicious desserts, ashta and almond ice cream and sticky date cake. Both superb in their own way!
The restaurant has very dim lights, so much that even the menu reading is a bit of trouble. Otherwise this open restaurant located right in the middle of the hotel is spot on location for sheesha and dinner! The restaurant is generally completely occupied even on weekdays so its best to check if advance reservations can be made.

Breakfast & Brunch At Boulevard Kitchen

A staycation is not complete without good food and Manzil Downtown offers a wide variety of restaurants like boulevard kitchen, via vineto and such. We chose to dine at boulevard kitchen for breakfast and brunch.
Boulevard kitchen served international cuisine ranging from authentic arabic/levant to Italian. I am dividing my review in two for clarity.
One word: Variety! There is a large variety of dishes on offer from various parts of the world. My favorite from all was the patisserie section that served some delicious and fresh croissant, muffins and cakes. They do offer eggs your way too which can be ordered once seated. My only concern with the buffet was the Asian dishes on offer. The dosa was tad to tough to eat and it was a struggle to have the same and the fried rice were overcooked. I have had better breakfast experiences at other hotels, this one was decent enough in comparison. There is something for everyone. You can choose to sit outdoors which I personally loved as early morning you can enjoy the downtown street views.
Levant Friday Brunch:
Wide variety of food with ranges from Arabic to Italian. I love that fact that they introduced a live pasta counter which was clearly most popular amongst people of all ages. The Arabic counter has a lot of meat based dishes and that was popular too. Our brunch package included cocktails which weren’t too strong but great presentation wise. Major attraction post brunch is the dessert counter that offers continental desserts and also arabic ones such as kunafah, Raha bil ashta, mamoul & many more.
The staff members are very friendly and upon our visit we were guided on the restaurant layout and offerings. Restaurant is great for family brunches.

Staycation Experience – Manzil Downtown

What’s the first thought that comes to your mind when you are choosing options for staycations? Comfort for me has been a priority, not only of myself but of my guest/s as well.
When the amazing folks at Manzil Downtown invited me for a staycation, I accepted it in a heartbeat! This gorgeous Emaar property is once of finest boutique hotels in UAE. The arabesque theme runs in the decor throughout the hotel. You will definitely learn a few Arabic words while your stay. My guest and I were upgraded to a deluxe Burj Khalifa view suite. With amazing view, cozy room and service fit for a queen, Manzil Downtown surely scored solid points for stay!

Our room overlooked a not to be missed view of Burj Khalifa and downtown Dubai. The wall features Arabic murals above the headboard, the color scheme is grays, whites and blacks. Generally I would expect more woodwork in room as that would go with the Arabian theme however here they given a modern touch which makes it perfect for any type of stay whether it’s business or pleasure.
The room features basic facilities like 42 inch flat TV, coffee & tea self serve facilities, hairdryer, Mini Bar, multi charging points & ironing facility. Another thing I loved about the hotel is that every guest is entitled to complimentary high speed WIFI that extends to pool as well. The white beddings give a very calming effect to the room. There is also a compact study and a lounging sofa. A lot of attention has been paid to the details in the room, there are Arabic words and meanings of them on many things such as the bathrobes, do not disturb signs and more.

The bathroom

It’s spacious and comes with separate shower area. Basic toiletries such as shower caps, ear buds and such are provided along with shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.
The bathtub is spacious and good to fit two people. I had a few concerns with the bathroom as it is door-less one, which means you cannot just share room with anyone but someone close to you. Also there aren’t any anti slip mats, considering the shower area can be slightly slippery after the use.

Swimming pool & Gym

Post our brunch we headed to the pool for some relaxation. Unfortunately I forgot my bathing suit and couldn’t enjoy a swim but my guest and I had a great time soaking the sun and lounging at our cabana. We also enjoyed some drinks at the pool from Oriental pool & Bar. They also have a 24 hour open gym for those interested in staying fit during their stay.

I loved the fact that there are specific tags that you can place at your room door. If you want the room to be made you can place the tag for the same. I spotted housekeeping staff several times at the foyer and they would always ask if I needed any assistance. The lifts can be operated by tapping your room key which is more secured feature added by most of hotels today.  The staff members had also added some welcome sweets in my room which clearly shows how much they love personalising the experience for thier guests.

We opted for breakfast & brunch at Boulevard kitchen & dinner at the courtyard. You can read the detailed review for the same by clicking on the following restaurants – Boulevard Kitchen & The Courtyard.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My mom was in town and she was visiting Manzil Downtown for the first time and she was impressed too! Everyone is warm & friendly right from the staff at the entrance to housekeeping. There is certain comfort level that gets built with the staff and makes it easier to interact with. Manzil Downtown is a home away from home. The room is ideal for couples or even besties for stay. The hotel also offers shuttle buses & airport transfer facilities. Check in time is as late as 2 pm.
As mentioned earlier, there are a lot of details been added to the hotel to make it more homely like the floral centerpiece at the lobby is fresh flowers in pots & there is even a mini herb garden at the pool area. Manzil Downtown is a dreamy arabic home that provides you all the luxuries! Check out the gorgeous view from my room’s window:

Restaurant Review: Hitchki Dubai

Hitchki is a restaurant/Bar concept all the way from India. I really like the fact that a lot of restaurants are coming down to Dubai for their international fans but sometimes the uniqueness fades of in the process of being “international”. Does Hitchki live up the hype? Read along to know.
A restaurant within a restaurant is a unique concept in itself. Located in Bazxar DIFC , Hitchki claims to offer a nostalgic Indian experience.
We were invited to the VIP pre-launch tasting session for Hitchki and were been provided a set menu of items for order. We were given our drinks(drunken nimboo pani & Geeta Babita) and informed that will have to wait for the appetisers to arrive. It took almost more than an hour and several reminders to our server to bring out the appetisers. After which we were sent out non vegetarian appetisers. We had informed in advance that we are vegetarians.
After a long wait we were been provided with mumbai ka julius ceasar salad which sadly was not fresh. The bhatti ka paneer in comparison was passable. Expressing my disappointment on the delay the manager brought out paneer kurchan roll. It was not on menu for that night but we got to try it and it was a good change from the earlier dishes we were provided.
The mains, none from set menu for bloggers were available except the daal makhani. We were provided that and paneer tikka masala. Both dishes were delicious but there was nothing unique about them. Throughout our tasting the servers were really clueless of what to serve us, it almost felt as if our reservation didn’t exist!
We were about to leave when the desserts were brought out. Baratiyon ka swagat & Gulab Jamun Truffle. Both unique and actually worth the wait! Aesthetically pleasing, taste-wise complex and interesting.

Overall, the dishes that I tried were average taste-wise, the service was major issue as there was no coordination between the staff & the manager. Failure in service could be excused if it was the only pre-launch event, however they had been conducting these prior the day of my visit as well. The staff were courteous and apologised for the delay caused.
The desserts and drinks were the only memorable thing about the event. Also the DJ was playing some really good tracks which made the atmosphere really interesting. I will be back only because I want to give the menu another try as their dishes in the complete menu sound innovative.

Farzified At Farzi Cafe Dubai!

Why Farzi? Because Farzi means creating an illusion. What you see is not what you always taste! That is the success mantra of Farzi cafe, a modern spice bistro by Zorawar Kalra.
Farzi cafe changed the scene of Indian cafes. New experiences and exquisite ingredients excite the diners. After gaining huge popularity in India, Farzi cafe opened its doors in Dubai.
I have tried the food at Farzi Cafe Mumbai and our experience earlier had been fabulous! Does the Dubai branch match the expectations? Read on to know.
My guest and I visited on a very busy Friday. The restaurant was packed with diners and not a single table was left empty for long. Looking at this it definitely did increase our expectations. For appetizers we were provided, tandoori wild mushrooms, walnut with truffle haze, Tandoori chilli cheese kulchas, daal aranchini & Chaat puffs. We were also served drinks such as chai soda & Pinacolada both with quirky presentation! Of all the dishes,my guest and I loved the tandoori mushrooms & paneer kulchas.
Coming to our mains, we tried Chermoula Crusted Paneer Tikka & vegetarian potato burger. Both delicious on their own way!
To end our meal we tried two stunning desserts. One named the dirt pile and other was a version of gulab jamun and rabri. The desserts impressed us massively! The deconstructed mud cake also known as THE DIRT PILE is Cleverly disguised as mud, the crumbles of cake are moist. The dish comes complete with a spade so that you can dig out some delicious elements such as fennel crumble, nuts, berries, chocolate truffles and even ice cream!
The service is quick and despite the crowd, the staff were very attentive.  Special thanks to the Manager Mr Manish for taking care of all our needs.
We were totally Farzified by the food and its presentation. The dishes are worth the wait and price wise everything on menu is reasonable. We are definitely going back to try more dishes!
